Christmas season is coming soon, and everyone knows that it includes sitting in front of the television with your family and friends, snacks and your favourite drink and creating the Christmas atmosphere! There’s too much to choose from the old-fashioned timeless works of Christmas, so it might be best to stick to the classics to celebrate the spirit of holidays! Maybe having a movie marathon of some of them would be the best thing to do! InsightScoop is here to help you out and give you our list of Christmas Classics to revisit this holiday season. Enjoy!

Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

This wonderful animation tells us the story of Rudolph, a reindeer who is ostracised by the others at the North Pole due to his red nose but who may come in handy on a foggy Christmas night when Santa needs him most… It has been praised over the decades for its extraordinary voice acting, soundtrack, animation style, characters and sets. This is one movie that won’t let you down!

A Christmas Story (1983)

Ralphie, a nine-year-old boy, tries to convince his parents, his teacher and Santa that he needs a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. A popular Christmas film, it spawned 3 sequels and has won awards, including two categories in the Genie Awards in Canada!

Elf (2003)

Buddy, a human, is raised amongst elves at the North Pole. When he discovers that he is not an elf, he travels to New York to search for his biological father. Featuring Will Ferrel’s charming performance in the titular role, the film has been widely described as entertaining and a fantastic family treat.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Jack Skellington, a being from Halloween Town, finds Christmas Town and is instantly enchanted. The situation becomes riveting when his obsession with Christmas leads him to abduct Santa Claus. Conceived by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick, this unsettling but genre-defying film is definitely a must-watch movie!

Home Alone (1990)

Eight-year-old Kevin is accidentally left behind when his family leaves for France. At first, he's happy to be in charge, but when thieves try to break into his home, he fights like no other. Topping the box office for 12 weeks straight at the time of its release, the fantastic acting and creative premise make for a funny but heartfelt Christmas-themed movie.

A Christmas Carol (2009)

Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old moneylender, is visited by three Christmas spirits on Christmas Eve. Scrooge embarks on a journey of self-redemption to mend his miserly ways. Jim Carrey’s voicing of Scrooge is a fine performance that translates Dickens’ original story into a wonderful film.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (2000)

Grinch, who lives in solitude, hates the townfolk of Whoville and despises Christmas. Cindy Lou, a six-year-old girl who believes in the spirit of Christmas, sets out to reform him. Originally written by Dr. Seuss, both the movie and the book it’s based on is a treat. Fresh and amusing, you won’t want to miss out on this movie.

The Polar Express (2004)

A young boy boards a train and embarks on an extraordinary journey to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus. His life takes a turn after he encounters special people that make his journey memorable. Featuring Tom Hanks and Josh Hutcherson (in various roles), the film has been described as ‘visually stunning’ and an ‘instant Christmas classic’.

Klaus (2019)

After proving himself to be the worst student at the academy, a postman is sent to a frozen town in the North, where he discovers a reclusive toymaker named Klaus. With a humorous, heartwarming narrative and beautiful animation, Klaus will mesmerise you and definitely put you in the holiday spirit!

Die Hard (1988)

A New York City police officer tries to save his estranged wife and several others taken hostage by terrorists during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles. Referred to (jokingly) as a Christmas movie in various TV shows and sitcoms, Die Hard may not be the epitome of the Christmas spirit, but it is definitely a great choice for action movie fans.

These movies take you back to your childhood memories and make you feel cozy and amused. You are ready to have fun with your family and friends, right?

Happy holidays and a Merry Christmas!
